Description

1940 Carcano M91/38 "Fucile Corto" short rifle in very good condition. Probably the best of the Carcano breed, the M91/38 is a short, lightweight, and bomb-proof simple bolt action carbine. This particular example was produced by Beretta in 1940, the only year of production for this model at Beretta. Condition is very good. Metal surfaces are free of rust and show a light patina. Buttplate shows worse with some old pitting but buttplate trapdoor functions correctly. Wood shows normal service dings but no cracks or serious gouges. Stock cartouches remain legible. Some spots show what appears to be white paint; it will come off with light scraping. All mechanical functions work properly. There is a small dent in the magazine well that does not impede feeding, although some clips may take a little encouragement to drop free. Overall a nice example of the final evolution of the Carcano.
